15 Photos, 1 Location EP.3 - Blyth

Blyth, a Northumberland port town, offers a mix of industry and seaside charm. The beach is often bustling and being complete with some of the county's best fish and chip shops in the area, theres never a shortage of people grabbing a bite while enjoying the views of the North Sea. There was a colossal storm the night before I got up and headed out to film this episode. So upon arrival, the wind was brutal and various parts of the seafront walk were sectioned off.

EP3 - BLYTH

Having visited a lot for coastal walks and knowing the area well, yet never taking many photos here before, I knew it would either be easy to find things to photograph, or hard to look further than the obvious.

The latter was how the day started as I became fixated on the groyne’s leading out to sea. After creating a few different images based around those I managed to pull myself away from the post storm waves and headed off in the other direction in search of capturing the morning walkers.

The thing about the English north east coastline is that regardless of what time or day you visit and whatever the weather may be doing, they’ll always be people out enjoying the fresh air. This bodes well for photographers wanting to capture some form of human interaction with nature in their images, I’m sure you’ll notice as this series continues that its a common theme for me.

Despite the abundance of people though, I did struggle to capture something striking or clean on this occasion. Hence the appropriately titled YouTube video you’ll find linked below ‘a challenging morning of photography’.
